Museum in Gliwice - Villa Caro

One of the oldest museums in Silesia, founded in 1905 as the Upper Silesian Museum. Since 1934 its main seat has been the Villa of Oscar Caro at ul. Dolnych Wałów 8a - an example of the few preserved urban residences of Upper Silesian industrialists from the end of the 19th century.

Collections

Villa Caro houses the departments of art and artistic craftsmanship as well as ethnography. The collections include, among others, artistic glass from the 17th-20th centuries and the largest collection of Polish silver jewellery in post-war Poland. The ethnography department gathers monuments of Silesian folk culture: wood carving, painting on glass, ceramics and costumes.
