Museum in Racibórz

The museum occupies three buildings, with the main exhibition building at ul. Gimnazjalna 1 - a former Dominican nuns' church. The most famous exhibit is the mummy of an approximately 20-year-old Egyptian woman, Djed-Amonet-ius-ankh (approx. 800 BC), brought to Racibórz in the 19th century.

Egyptian collections

In 1861 the mummy came to the Royal Evangelical Gymnasium in Racibórz. The permanent exhibition "House of Osiris" is the only presentation in Silesia of a collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities, comprising the mummy with cartonnage as well as two anthropoid coffins (approx. 945-715 BC) and canopic urns.
