The museum is located by the Old Town Market Square in Stargard and also has a site at the Bastion in Piast Park. It gathers rich collections documenting the history of the town and the region.
The collections comprise archaeological finds, historical documents, prints and manuscripts, medals, decorations, seals, banners, photographs, costumes, technical artefacts, militaria, maps, and works of art: painting, graphic art, sculpture, and artistic craftsmanship. There are also numismatic and ethnographic collections.
