The museum is housed in the castle in Opoczno, whose origins date back to the times of Casimir the Great (14th century) and which has been rebuilt many times. It documents the history and culture of the Opoczno region.
The museum is renowned for its rich ethnographic collection of the Opoczno region - colourful folk costumes, textiles, paper cut-outs and ceramics. It also presents archaeology, the history of the town and castle, and folk craftsmanship.
