A Baroque royal residence located in Warsaw's Wilanów district, surrounded by a historic park (a Baroque garden and a landscape park) and a courtyard. Address: ul. Stanisława Kostki Potockiego 10/16.
The palace was erected between 1681 and 1696 for King Jan III Sobieski and Queen Marie Casimire to a design by Augustyn Wincenty Locci. It was originally built as a residence in the style of a Polish manor (1677-1680), after which the central part was extended and towers were added. Between 1723 and 1729 side wings were added (design by Giovanni Spazzio) for Elżbieta Sieniawska. In 1799 Stanisław Kostka Potocki became the owner and in 1805 opened here one of the first public museums in Poland. Since 1995 the site has been managed by the Museum of King Jan III's Palace.
