Picturesque ruins of a Renaissance castle above a river valley, surrounded by legends and the centuries-old history of its walls.

Location and surroundings

The castle lies in the village of Krupe in the Krasnystaw district, about 20 km from Chełm, above a river/pond valley.

History

The castle was built at the end of the 15th century by Jerzy Krupski of the Korczak coat of arms. Around 1656 the site was destroyed by the Swedes, and in 1665 it suffered from a fire. In 1794 another fire broke out, after which the castle was no longer rebuilt.
