Location and surroundings

The castle lies in Międzyrzecz (Międzyrzecz County), on the site of an early medieval stronghold from the second half of the 9th century, surrounded by a moat.

History

The masonry castle was built around 1350 on the initiative of Casimir the Great on the site of an earlier stronghold. The structure has survived as a permanent ruin and is administered by the director of the Museum of the Międzyrzecz Region.
