A royal castle from the 15th/16th century on the Narew; after centuries as a ruin it has been partially reconstructed and opened to visitors.

Location and surroundings

The castle is located in Tykocin, on the right bank of the Narew River, in Białystok County.

History

The royal castle was built in the 15th/16th century on the right bank of the Narew. In 1734 the confederates of Stanisław Leszczyński started a fire that destroyed the castle; the abandoned structure began to fall into ruin. In 2011 part of the reconstructed castle was opened to visitors.
