Ruins of Niesytno Castle

Ruins of a knightly castle in the village of Płonina (550 m above sea level), Bolków municipality. A characteristic feature, unique on a national scale in Poland, is the polygonal tower with a beak, set on a rocky peak.

History

The building was probably erected in the second half of the 14th century; the first mention dates from 1432, when the Bishop of Wrocław reported the seizure of the stronghold of the knight Hayn von Czirny. In the 15th century it was associated with the Hussites and robber knights. From the 1430s it was the property of the von Zedlitz family (until the mid-17th century). In 1545 a Renaissance manor was built next to it, taking over the residential functions.
