Ruins of the royal castle in the western part of Międzyrzecz, on a stronghold at the confluence of the Obra and Paklica rivers. Part of a complex with the Museum of the Międzyrzecz Region.

History

The first mention of a castle in Międzyrzecz dates back to 1002. The masonry castle was erected under Casimir the Great. Its heyday ended with the wars of the 17th century – destroyed by the Swedes, it has been in ruins ever since. A special sightseeing route runs around the ruins (with a moat).
