Location and surroundings

The Great Market Square is a square about 100 x 100 m, forming the centre of the Renaissance Old Town in Zamosc - one of the most magnificent 16th-century squares in Europe. The Old Town was inscribed on the UNESCO List in 1992.

History

Zamosc is an ideal Renaissance city founded in 1580 by Chancellor Jan Zamoyski, designed by the Italian architect Bernardo Morando after the model of Italian towns.
