The Long Market is a representative square and promenade that is the heart of the Main Town in Gdansk, connecting with Long Street. For centuries it was the city's main commercial hub.

History

The history of this part of Gdansk dates back to the 13th century. In 1945 the Main Town was about 95% destroyed. In 1947 the decision was made to rebuild it in its historic form. The Gothic-Renaissance Main Town Hall, whose construction began in 1346, today houses the main seat of the Museum of Gdansk.
