Market Square in Leszno

The Market Square in Leszno is the central square of the Old Town, shaped as an irregular quadrangle. It took its present form after 1547, following the granting of town rights, and has retained its original layout to this day.

Town Hall

At the central point of the square stands a historic town hall, originally erected in the 17th century in the Renaissance style, which after reconstructions gained a Baroque appearance.

Buildings

The square is surrounded by about 37 townhouses, mainly from the years 1870-1914. The architectural layout of the square is under conservation protection (entry in the register of monuments no. 385 of 6 February 1953). Since 1977, the square has been closed to car traffic.
