The Market Square in Gniezno is the main square of the town, located on Panieńskie Hill - one of the seven hills of Gniezno. This place already had a commercial character in the early Middle Ages.
A fire broke out in 1819, destroying many of the old buildings, which is why today's square is lined mainly with 19th-century townhouses. In the central part of the square there is a fountain and a semicircle with the coats of arms of towns belonging to the Association of Polish Towns.
The square is publicly accessible all year round.
The square is in the centre of Gniezno, near Lech Hill with the cathedral.
