Market Square in Paczków

The Market Square in Paczków is the central square of a town nicknamed the 'Polish Carcassonne' due to its exceptionally well-preserved medieval defensive walls. The square was once protected by fortifications, fragments of which are among the best-preserved defensive walls in Poland.

Town hall

The central feature of the square is the town hall with its preserved 16th-century tower. The building and its tower were erected between 1550 and 1552; between 1821 and 1822 it was thoroughly rebuilt, giving it its present Neoclassical form.

Buildings

The square is surrounded by townhouses with richly decorated gables, representing the Renaissance, Baroque, Classicist and Gothic styles.
