Market Square in Żary

The Market Square in Żary is the historic Old Town square. In its central part stands a free-standing town hall - the first masonry town hall in Żary was built in the first half of the 14th century, which makes it one of the oldest in Poland.

Town Hall

From the Renaissance décor, the entrance portal has been preserved, among others, decorated with a mosaic in 1929. The square and the town hall are surrounded by colourful, historic townhouses, mainly from the 17th century.
