Przemyśl Fortress is an extensive complex of forts around Przemyśl in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, with an outer ring approx. 45-54 km in circumference.
In the early 20th century one of the largest modern fortresses in Europe, compared to Verdun ("the Verdun of the Eastern Front"). During World War I a site of heavy fighting and sieges. The fortress landscape has largely survived in unchanged form.
Main and auxiliary forts, including Fort XII "Werner" in Żurawica (with a museum), Fort I "Salis Soglio", Fort VIII "Łętownia" in Kuńkowce. Visits on foot, by bike or on horseback.
