The Citadel is the best-known structure of the Grudziądz fortifications, located in Grudziądz on the Vistula.
The fortress was built in the second half of the 18th century on the initiative of King Frederick II of Prussia; construction work was completed in 1789. The citadel's plan takes the form of half an octagon with a central donjon, bastions and ravelins. Known for its extensive underground passages.
