Fort I Salis-Soglio in Siedliska

One of the main artillery forts of the outer ring of the Przemyśl Fortress - one of the largest fortresses of World War I. Construction of the single-rampart artillery fort began on 16 November 1883 and was completed in 1886. The fort was named in honour of Baron Daniel Salis-Soglio, the director of its construction.

Characteristics

Originally planned as an armoured fort; after cost reductions, the two armoured turrets were abandoned in favour of open artillery positions. It is one of the largest and most recognisable structures of the fortress.
