Koźle Fortress (Festung Cosel)

A Prussian fortress whose construction began in the 18th century (the new fortress from 1743, after Prussia seized Koźle). A outer moat, redoubts, barracks, guardhouses and road infrastructure were created. In 1873 the fortress was decommissioned and most of the structures were demolished.

Museum and preserved structures

Preserved to this day are, among others, the powder magazine and the Montalembert Tower, burned down in 1945 - the greatest attraction of the former fortress. The building houses the Museum of the Koźle Region with exhibitions, including Koźle Fortress.
