Bunker at Strzegomski Square

A reinforced-concrete air-raid shelter built in 1942 - the largest of several early shelters erected in Wrocław for the civilian population. During the siege of Festung Breslau it served as a fortress hospital (Festungslazarett II) for more than a thousand wounded.

Function today

Since 2 September 2011 the bunker has housed the Wrocław Contemporary Museum - the only museum in Poland located in a bunker. The building remains under the care of a fortification association presenting its history.
