St. Roch's Bastion - fortifications of Jasna Góra

One of the four mighty bastions of the Jasna Góra fortress, erected from the 1620s to defend the image of the Mother of God and the pilgrims. St. Roch's Bastion (the Morsztyn Bastion) was built in 1631-1636, to the design of the engineer Andrea dell'Aqua. The fortifications survived the famous siege during the Swedish Deluge in 1655.

Exhibition

The bastion presents a military exhibition with cannons and war trophies donated to the monastery.

Visiting daily: 1 March - 31 October 9:00-17:00, other months 9:00-16:00. Closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Corpus Christi, All Saints' Day, All Souls' Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas. The route is lit, approx. 1 hour.
