Heliodor Laskowski Battery (Headland Battery)

Coastal artillery battery no. 31 - the most powerful on the Hel Peninsula and the only one of its kind in pre-war Poland. It consisted of 4 Bofors guns of 152.4 mm calibre on massive reinforced concrete emplacements at the very end of the Hel Peninsula (hence the name Headland Battery). Construction of the emplacements began in 1935.

Museum

Firing position no. 4 is open in season as part of the Coastal Defence Museum. You can visit the underground chambers and an exhibition dedicated to the battery commander, Capt. Zbigniew Przybyszewski. The battery played an important role in September 1939, shelling German warships.
