The castle is located at Plac Zamkowy 4, in the heart of Warsaw's Old Town. It is one of the symbols of the capital.
For centuries the castle was the seat of the Dukes of Mazovia, and later the residence of kings and the meeting place of the Sejm of the First Polish Republic. It was here that the Constitution of 3 May 1791 was adopted. The castle was destroyed during World War II and subsequently rebuilt; today it serves as a museum.
