The castle is located in the village of Sucha (Leśna municipality), on Lake Leśniańskie, in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Its picturesque waterside setting makes it one of the most recognisable castles in the region.
The castle has medieval origins; it was built as a border stronghold and, in the following centuries, was extended and rebuilt. At the beginning of the 20th century, after a fire, it was thoroughly restored. Today it is famous as a film location.
