The castle is located on Mount Choina, within a nature reserve, above Lake Bystrzyckie, in the village of Zagórze Śląskie (Lower Silesian Voivodeship).
The castle has medieval origins and belonged to the system of strongholds of the Duchy of Świdnica-Jawor. Over the centuries it served defensive and residential functions. Its preserved walls and interiors are now open to visitors.

The castle stands on Mount Choina; it is not possible to drive right up to the castle; free car parks below the hill, with a walk of about 10-15 min.
