The castle rises above Lake Czorsztyńskie, in Niedzica (Łapsze Niżne municipality), in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, near the Pieniny Mountains.
The castle was built in the Middle Ages as a stronghold guarding the Polish-Hungarian borderland on the Dunajec River. Over the centuries it changed owners, remaining one of the best-preserved castles in the Polish Carpathians. Today it houses the Museum - Castle Complex.
Castle chambers, courtyards, the coach house and the granary; from the terraces there is a view of Lake Czorsztyńskie.
