The castle is located in Racibórz at ul. Zamkowa 2, in the Silesian Voivodeship, near the Oder.
The castle has medieval origins and was associated with the Piast rulers of the Duchy of Racibórz. On its grounds the Gothic Chapel of St Thomas Becket from the 13th century has survived, known as the 'pearl of Silesian Gothic'. The complex also includes the ducal house and the malt house.
