The castle is located in Ciechanów (Masovian Voivodeship), at 1 Zamkowa Street, in the valley of the Łydynia River.
This brick Gothic castle was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries as a stronghold of the Dukes of Masovia, on low-lying, marshy ground. Its massive defensive walls with two turrets at the corners are characteristic. The castle served defensive and residential functions. Today it houses the Museum of the Masovian Nobility.
