The castle is located in Kórnik (Poznań County, Greater Poland Voivodeship), at 5 Zamkowa Street, by Lake Kórnickie, next to the famous Kórnik Arboretum.
The castle has medieval origins; in the 19th century, on the initiative of the Działyński and later the Zamoyski families, it was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style following a design inspired by romantic residences. Valuable library and museum collections were assembled here. Today the castle is associated with the Polish Academy of Sciences Kórnik Library.
