Castle of the Warmian Chapter in Olsztyn

A Gothic castle from the 14th century, built for the administrator of the estates of the Warmian Chapter. It is the seat of the Museum of Warmia and Masuria, founded in 1945.

Nicolaus Copernicus

From 1516 to 1521, Nicolaus Copernicus served here as administrator of the chapter's estates. An experimental astronomical table drawn by his own hand has been preserved on the wall of the castle cloister.

Collections

The museum gathers artefacts relating to the region's past: archaeology, history, numismatics, old and contemporary art, artistic craftsmanship and folk culture.
