Szczawno-Zdrój is one of the oldest Lower Silesian spa towns, located near Wałbrzych, known for its historic Promenade Hall with the Mineral Water Pump Room.
The town lies at the foot of the Wałbrzych Mountains; the spa is surrounded by a spa park.
The Promenade Hall with the Mineral Water Pump Room is a unique complex of 19th-century architecture (the present hall in the classicist style was completed in 1896). The pump room offers waters including "Dąbrówka", "Marta", "Mieszko" and "Młynarz".
