Kołobrzeg is a statutory seaside health resort on the Baltic Sea, one of the largest in Poland, combining therapeutic and leisure functions.
The town lies at the mouth of the Parsęta River on the Baltic Sea.
Kołobrzeg's therapeutic resources - brine, peloid mud, the seaside microclimate and iodine in the air - are legally protected. The brine comes from boreholes; the peloid mud is used in treatments. A dozen or so sanatorium facilities operate in the town.
