Piwniczna-Zdrój is a town and statutory health resort in the Sącz Beskids, in the Poprad valley, in Nowy Sącz County. The resort comprises a number of hamlets spread along the Poprad river (including Głębokie, Kokuszka, Zawodzie, Łomnica, Wierchomla and Zubrzyk).
The medicinal waters (carbonated mineral springs) have been used here since the 1930s; many intakes have been preserved in their natural state at the point of outflow. It represents the sub-mountain type of health resort.
