Szklarska Poręba
Śląskie Kamienie is a group of granite tors on the border ridge of the Karkonosze Mountains, above 1,400 m above sea level, in the area of Szklarska Poręba. They form two clusters of blocks: a higher one, about eight metres tall, to the north-west, and a lower one of some 7.5 metres to the south.
The Czech name Dívčí kameny and the German Mädelsteine both mean „maidens' stones” and refer to a legend about a girl said to have died here. The Polish name is more descriptive and simply points to the position of the rocks on the Silesian ridge, in the central part of the range.
The red Main Sudetes Trail and the Polish-Czech border run past the rocks, so there are several ways up: trails from Jagniątków or from Szrenica, reached by cable car from Szklarska Poręba. From the tors you can see the Karkonosze Pass, the Jelenia Góra Basin, Śnieżka and Wielki Szyszak.
