ul. Lazurowa, Gdańsk
The Kazimierz Water Reservoir stands on Lazurowa Street in Gdańsk and has supplied the eastern part of the city with water since 2015. It is named after Kazimierz Behlke, who spent his career in the water and sewage industry, and belongs to the Gdańsk Waterworks Trail presenting the city's water infrastructure.
The reservoir holds 600 cubic metres and the structure rises 30 metres high. Its construction consumed some 3,300 cubic metres of concrete, 130 tonnes of steel and five kilometres of cabling. The building combines a technical role with an observation function and stands out in the flat Żuławy landscape.
A viewing deck sits at the top of the reservoir, 30 metres above the ground. It opens onto the Bay of Gdańsk, the beaches of Sobieszewo Island, the coastal pine forest and the fields of Żuławy; in clear weather the Hel Peninsula is visible.
