Zakopane
Krzesanica rises to 2,122 m above sea level in the main ridge of the Western Tatras and is the highest summit of the Czerwone Wierchy massif. It lies within Tatra National Park, above the Miętusia Valley, on the Polish side of the ridge.
The peak is built of dolomite with limestone interbeds, which makes it the highest Polish summit of this composition. The calcareous bedrock favours calciphilous plants growing in the rock crevices and on the grassy slopes, and this makes the ridge of the Czerwone Wierchy a valuable botanical area.
A red trail follows the ridge to the summit, most often walked from the Kościeliska Valley across the successive Czerwone Wierchy towards Kasprowy Wierch. The route is long and calls for a full-day outing. From the top you look down on the Miętusia and Cicha valleys and across to Małołączniak and Ciemniak.
