The highest dune of the Vistula Spit

Wielbłądzi Garb (Camel's Hump) is the highest point of the Vistula Spit and one of the highest fixed dunes in Europe — it reaches 49.5 m above sea level. The name comes from its shape: seen from the Gulf of Gdańsk, the dune shows two humps like a camel's back. It lies about two kilometres from the centre of Krynica Morska.

The view from the top

A viewing tower stands on the summit, taking in the Baltic Sea, the Vistula Lagoon and the Elbląg Upland. The ascent follows a nature trail through the pine forest covering the dune, steep on the final stretch but short.

Getting there

From the centre of Krynica Morska you walk along Gdańska Street and then turn towards the Vistula Lagoon; the path climbs over a small saddle and after about a hundred metres reaches the top. The walk takes less than 40 minutes and can also be done by bike.
