Wieś Rycerka Górna
Bendoszka Wielka (1144 m above sea level) lies on the main ridge of Wielka Racza in the Żywiec Beskids, above the village of Rycerka Górna in the Żywiec district. The most recognisable feature of the top is the Jubilee Cross of the Żywiec Land — a structure more than twenty metres high, erected in 2000 and known among locals as the Beskid Giewont.
A wooden viewing platform with a board describing the panorama stands beside the cross. In good visibility you can pick out the Malá Fatra range on the Slovak side of the border and the Barania Góra ridge in the Silesian Beskids, and closer by the neighbouring peaks of the Wielka Racza group. The top is partly open, so the view spans a wide arc of the horizon, yet offers almost no shelter from the wind.
The easiest approaches follow the green trails from Rycerka Dolna and Rycerka Górna. A longer but more rewarding option is the blue trail from Sól via Rycerka Dolna and Praszywka Wielka. The walk up from the valley and back takes several hours, so an early start and your own water supply are advisable — there are no supply points on the way. The route suits older children used to walking.
