A wooden tower above Lake Gołuń

The observation tower in Wdzydze Kiszewskie stands within the PTTK water sports base on the shore of Lake Gołuń, in the heart of Kashubia in the Kościerzyna district. The structure is built entirely of timber and is 35 metres tall. Stairs lead to three platforms set at 10, 20 and 30 metres, so the view can be compared from several levels.

What you can see from above

From the highest deck, fitted with a spotting scope, a panorama of the Wdzydze Lakes opens up — a system of basins whose arms together form a distinctive cross shape. Numerous peninsulas and bays are visible, along with Ostrów Wielki, the largest island, and in clear weather the vast forests of the Wdzydze Landscape Park stretching to the horizon.

While you are here

Next to the tower stands an educational shelter with boards on the nature and history of the region. A public beach and a water equipment rental operate by the lake, so a short climb up the tower easily grows into a longer stop. Nearby it is worth visiting the open-air museum in Wdzydze Kiszewskie, one of the oldest museums of its kind in Poland.
