Wieś Wetlina
Rabia Skała (1199 m above sea level) lies on the border ridge of the Western Bieszczady, on the Polish-Slovak frontier, and is most easily reached from Wetlina. Its name derives from a Ukrainian word meaning speckled or mottled. It is one of the less crowded summits in the range.
The peak is largely forested and its slopes are covered with Carpathian beechwoods with rich undergrowth, including intermediate spirea and long-leaved hare's ear. A viewing platform has been built at the top, from which the ridges on the Slovak side of the border are visible and, in good weather, distant Ukrainian ranges as well.
The shortest approach follows the green trail from Wetlina to Jawornik and then the yellow one — about 6.7 km one way and close to three hours of walking. The route is demanding in terms of stamina, with a long, monotonous climb, so it suits experienced walkers better than an outing with small children.
