A summit in the western Karkonosze

Szrenica rises to 1362 m above sea level in the western part of the Karkonosze range, above Szklarska Poręba. Its granite dome is crowned with boulder fields and rock outcrops, while swathes of dwarf mountain pine spread below. It is one of the finest viewpoints in the whole range.

Views and mountain huts

The summit looks out over the Jelenia Góra basin, the Izera Mountains and the Czech side of the Karkonosze. The Szrenica hut stands just below the top, the PTTK hut on Hala Szrenicka lower down, and the Kamieńczyk hut at the foot of the mountain by the waterfall. The Main Sudetes Trail follows the ridge, allowing longer walks towards the Śnieżne Kotły cirques.

How to get up

A two-stage chairlift runs from Szklarska Poręba to the summit, complemented by a newer six-seater line; in winter an extensive ski resort operates here. On foot, the easiest route is the red trail from Szklarska Poręba Górna, about five kilometres, or the green one from Jakuszyce. The area lies within a national park.
