A summit in the Silesian Beskids

Stożek Wielki rises to 978 m above sea level over Wisła, in the southern part of the Silesian Beskids, right on the Polish-Czech border. Its slopes are almost entirely forested, while the summit area opens up with views of the Silesian and Moravian-Silesian Beskids.

Mountain hut and trails

The Main Beskid Trail runs across the summit, and Stożek is a junction of routes towards Kubalonka, Czantoria and Soszów Wielki. On the ridge stands one of the oldest and most visited mountain huts in these mountains, in use since 1922. A border crossing to the Czech Republic operates next to it.

How to get up

The most popular ascents start in Wisła: the yellow trail from the Wisła Dziechcinka station takes about 2.5 hours, the green one from Wisła Głębce about two. There are more variants of differing difficulty, so the route can be matched to your fitness; in winter anti-slip equipment is useful.

  • Mountain hut at the summit

  • Marked hiking trails
Cost: Free admission Visit duration: approx. 4 hours Seasonality: Year-round, harder ascent in winter
