Przełęcz Lipnicka, Wieś Zubrzyca Górna
Sokolica (about 1367 m above sea level) is the lowest and easternmost summit of the north-eastern ridge of the Babia Góra massif in the Żywiec Beskids. It lies on the boundary between Zawoja and Zubrzyca Górna, within Babia Góra National Park, and the most convenient starting point is the Krowiarki Pass.
The top is crowned by a natural flattening that serves as a viewing terrace, undercut on the north-western side by a rocky cliff left by an old landslide. Benches and the boards of the educational path In the Footsteps of Wawrzyniec Szkolnik have been placed here. The view takes in the ridge of Babia Góra, the Jałowiec and Polica ranges, the Little and Maków Beskids and the Zawoja valley.
The shortest ascent follows the red trail from the Krowiarki Pass — about 1.6 km and a little over an hour of walking. The green trail from Perć Przyrodników is shorter still. The slopes carry upper montane forest and the summit zone dwarf pine; national park rules apply, including keeping to marked trails.
