A hill above Skoczów

Kaplicówka is a rise of just under 400 m a.s.l., counted among the Cieszyn Foothills and towering over Skoczów. The approach from Jana Pawła II Avenue is short and gentle, suitable also for families with small children. The hilltop is developed and open all year.

Chapel and memorials

At the top stands the chapel of St John Sarkander, belonging to the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, together with a viewing gazebo modelled on its nineteenth-century predecessor. A stone obelisk commemorates the mass celebrated here by John Paul II in 1995 and his sermon on freedom of conscience.

Trails and views

From the hill you can see Skoczów and the ridges of the Silesian Beskids. Municipal walking routes cross the area: the Sarkander Trail (yellow) and the Skoczów Monuments Trail (blue), as well as yellow cycle route no. 11 from Skoczów via Dębowiec to Cieszyn.
