Zakopane
Małołączniak (2096 m above sea level) belongs to the Czerwone Wierchy massif in the Western Tatras. In good visibility it can be spotted from Zakopane, looking east of Giewont. The summit is long and treeless, and on the southern side the steep precipices of Wielka Turnia fall away beneath it.
The top offers a broad panorama with the High Tatras in the foreground. The northern slopes hide the three deepest caves of the Polish Tatras: Jaskinia Wielka Śnieżna, Siwy Kocioł and Śnieżna Studnia. The slopes are covered with rush that turns red in summer — hence the peak's second name, Czerwony Wierch (Red Peak).
The most convenient start is in Kościelisko at Nędzówka: the red trail to Przysłop Miętusi, then the blue one through Kobylarz to the top. The route is about 7.2 km long and takes close to five hours one way. The Kobylarz section is steep, so sturdy boots and a sure step are essential.
