A spiral terrace in the Beskid Sądecki

The viewing platform in Wola Krogulecka, nicknamed the Snail because of its shape, stands on Dzielnica Hill (539 m above sea level) in the Stary Sącz commune. The structure was opened in 2014 and quickly became one of the most popular viewpoints in the area. The terrace itself sits at about 530 m above sea level, roughly 200 metres above the valley of the Poprad river.

The panorama

From the platform you can see the Radziejowa range and the rest of the Beskid Sądecki, the broad Sącz Basin and, in clear weather, also the Gorce and Beskid Wyspowy ranges. The gentle spiral ramp means prams can be pushed up to the top level. The view is impressive in every season and especially striking early in the morning, when mist lingers in the valleys.

Who it suits

This is a good target for a short family outing. A designated campfire spot, a toilet and a car park have been arranged by the platform, so you can spend more time here than the climb alone takes. Access runs along local roads from Stary Sącz, and walking and cycling paths circle the hill.
