Wieś Wetlina
Jawornik (1021 m above sea level) lies on a side ridge of the border range of the Western Bieszczady, close to the Polish-Slovak border and above the village of Wetlina. A small pass separates it from the neighbouring peak of Paportna, and the summit itself rises about four hundred metres above the valley floor.
The whole massif is covered by dense beech forest, so there are no wide panoramas from the top — this is a mountain for those who value quiet and a calm walk in the woods more than views. The beech slopes look their best in autumn, when the leaves change colour and the forest opens up before winter.
A green trail leads to the summit from Wetlina. The route is 2.8 km long, runs through wooded terrain and is not technically demanding — the walk takes about an hour and twenty minutes one way. Wetlina makes a convenient base from which Jawornik can be combined with longer hikes in the Bieszczady.
