Świeradów-Zdrój
Stóg Izerski is one of the highest peaks of the Izera Mountains, rising at the western end of the High Ridge close to the Czech border. Dense spruce forest covers the slopes, but the summit area opens up towards Świeradów-Zdrój, the neighbouring ranges and valleys.
A wooden lookout tower stood here until 2000, when it was dismantled because of its poor condition; a few years later a telecommunications mast took its place. Just below the top, on the northern side, there is a PTTK mountain hut and a ski resort.
Several trails of varying difficulty lead to the top. The most convenient is the red Main Sudetes Trail from Świeradów-Zdrój: about 4 km and a little over two hours. A gondola lift also runs from the town, cutting the ascent to almost nothing.
