The viewpoint was laid out on the island of Kępa Bazarowa, on the left bank of the Vistula opposite the Bridge Gate. A purpose-built terrace opens up the whole riverside panorama of Toruń's old town — one of the most photographed views in Poland.
From the terrace you can pick out the Sailors' Gate, the slender tower of the Church of the Holy Spirit, the turrets of St Mary's Church, the roof and spires of the Artus Court and the tower of the Old Town Hall. The medieval town complex, inscribed on the UNESCO list, lines up here in a single sweep.
The island is reached by the Piłsudski bridge, from where a short path leads down to the terrace; in summer the tourist boat “Katarzynka” also runs across. The visit takes a quarter of an hour, and the best light for photographs comes in the afternoon and at sunset, when the old town is lit up.
